Moss Street Paint -In 2009 was a very enjoyable event with sunny skies ,thousands of people & superbly run by the Art Gallery Of Greater Victoria.
Dorset Norwich-Young a.f.c.a. was awarded Signature Status with the Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA). With this prestigious nomination voted to " artists who have demonstrated consistent superior ability" comes the use of the letters a.f.c.a. denoting Associate Signature Status and the honour of judging future FCA shows. The Federation of Canadian Artists was established in 1941 and today remains a strong organization for artists and art lovers, hosting both local, national & international art exhibitions
Dorset has changed her painting medium again, this time after 20 years of working in watercolours on paper to acrylic on stretched canvas. She feels a new vitality in her work. The acrylic's fast drying time suit her energetic style of painting. Many techniques from Dorset's previous passion with oils & then watercolours are apparent in the new acrylic work as the paintings range from veiled washes a to thick textured surface.
Dorset has relocated her studio from Victoria,BC to Pender Island, BC.neighbouring the resort "Poets Cove". Being an nature lover and living on an island with incredible scenery it is no wonder that landscapes have become her renewed interest and major theme.
